The story is always the best part of a vintage car. That's especially true in this car's case. It's a 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV-6 that was wrecked and destined for the crusher, until owner Chase Maurer got ahold of it and brought it back from the dead.

Larry Chen of Hoonigan caught up with Maurer at a recent time attack event to find out how this car came to be. After acquiring the GTV-6 in the sorry state you see above on the left, Maurer and his father dedicated themselves to making it into a race car after discovering the engine was still healthy post-wreck. It's been transformed with a stunning Marlboro livery paint job, a modern roll cage, Lexan windows, and a slew of other race-ready upgrades.

Perhaps the best part about this GTV-6, though, is the sound from that Busso V-6. Aside from a set of headers imported from Italy, it's totally stock, but still makes a phenomenal noise. We can't get enough of it.
