Christmas Tree Disposal

Residents may take their Christmas trees to the village shed at 421 Elm St. for disposal by the village.

This is only for the disposal of what was once a live tree.

All lights, garland and ornaments must be removed before putting the tree out for recycling.

Jaycees Regional Awards Dinner

The Third Trimester Year End Regional Awards Ceremonies will take place at the Alhambra Firemen Legion Hall 610 W. Main (in the Township Park) on Saturday, Jan. 13.

This event will kick off with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and more.

Presentation of awards will follow the meal.

The public is invited to attend and cheer on the honorees as they receive their awards.

Cost of the evening is $10 per person.

Food Pantry Needs

The Highland Food Pantry is in need of canned tuna, cereal, toilet paper, bar soap, deodorant and disposable razors.

The Bread of Life Pantry in Hamel is in need of canned goods of carrots, potatoes, diced tomatoes, soup, fruit cocktail, cereal, pancake mix, syrup, jelly, coffee, pasta sauce, Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, mayonnaise, cooking oil, toothpaste/toothbrushes, shampoo, dish/laundry detergent, toilet paper, bars of soap, empty egg cartons and plastic bags.

Movie with the Minister

Everyone is welcome to join the fun with a movie with the minister at Salem Church at 7 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month.

The Jan. 30 special feature will be the comedy “Angel in My Pocket,” featuring Andy Griffith. A new minister arrives in a town run by two families that cannot seem to agree on anything.

Lots of fun for the entire family.

Popcorn and soda provided, but everyone is invited to bring other snacks to share.

Salem’s 76th Sausage Supper

Salem Churches Sausage Supper will be held 1-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

This is mainly a drive-thru event. Those wishing to eat inside are asked to park in the front of the church. There will be space in the upper Parish Hall for dining in.

All meals will be served in to-go containers.

The meals will be homemade pork sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, sauerkraut, green beans and applesauce.

The cost of the meal is $13 per person.

The Women’s Guild will offer dessert at an additional cost.

Meat sales will be pre-orders only and are due by Jan. 23.

Pick-up will be Thursday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday Jan. 27, 9-11a.m.

175th Anniversary Committee T-shirts

The committee for the 175th Alhambra Anniversary is selling T-shirts with the 175th logo on them.

The shirts are available in either blue or green and may be purchased at the Village Hall from 8 a.m. to noon through Jan. 10.

Call the village clerk at 618-488-3505 if you would like to order one. Someone on the committee will see that you get it.

The cost is $15 up to size XL and $16 for XXL. Other sizes may be ordered.
