Alicia Silverstone's experience with dating apps wasn't without its challenges.

During a virtual appearance Tuesday on The Drew Barrymore Show, the 45-year-old actress opened up about how she gave the dating apps a try but encountered hiccups along the way. "A few years ago I tried to get on one of the dating apps and I put a fake profile because I wasn't comfortable yet being me," said Silverstone. "And then I got kicked off, I got banned."

Silverstone, who filed for divorce from husband Christopher Jarecki in 2018, said Tuesday she tried to get back on the apps again upon hearing that Barrymore, 46, and actress Sharon Stone were also open to online dating. Unfortunately for the Clueless alum, her experience was once again short-lived. (Related: This New Dating App Helps Dog Lovers Connect and Find Pup-Approved Love)

"So I went on as myself and it took a lot of courage to do it. And then I did it and I had a date with someone planned and the day I went in to find out about the date where we were meeting or whatever, I had been banned. Poor guy. I got kicked off as myself too," said Silverstone on The Drew Barrymore Show.

With dating overall, however, Silverstone said Tuesday she tries to be as "open and clear" as possible at the start to see if her path aligns with a potential partner. "I'm a busy person, I work so much. I have a very full life — I love my life. I love my son," said Silverstone, who shares 10-year-old son Bear with her ex, Jarecki. "I just don't have time to mess around, so I just sort of go in really open and clear, and ask really good questions, so that I can find out if we're on the same path, if we have the same vision for our lives." Using dating apps can be something of an emotional rollercoaster. You may hit it off with a stranger in cyberspace, or you could potentially get ghosted by an intriguing prospect. That said, kudos to Silverstone for allowing herself to be vulnerable in trying something new.
