Aliens? Video could be worth $1 million. How to enter Ring's Out of this World contest

If aliens are real and on the move, they seem to like Florida.

That's a good thing if you want to participate in Ring's "Million Dollar Search for Extraterrestrials" competition.

Wait, what?

Ring cameras have been known to capture plenty of normal activities around our homes.

They've also captured videos of accidents, delivery drivers going above and beyond, criminal activity, wildlife doing the strangest things and the just plain bizarre.

It's the strange Ring is hoping customers will capture on video. And the prize is $1 million.

Don't give up if you think aliens will skip your neighborhood. Ring is offering five prizes for creativity when it comes to extraterrestrials.

"Sensors have been picking up rogue signals from the Neighborhood Nebula. Might be nothing. Might be something. That’s where you come in.

"Now through November 3, 2023, keep your eyes peeled and your Ring device notifications on, and you may be eligible to win $1 million!" the company announced on its website.

What you have to do: submit scientific evidence recorded with a Ring device during the promotion period documenting an extraterrestrial.

What sort of scientific evidence? The unaltered video must contain all of the following:

  • The extraterrestrial exhibiting unusual, extraordinary, or unexplainable behavior.

  • An explanation of why the anomaly is necessarily extraterrestrial in origin.

  • The scientific evidence must unequivocally rule out any known explanations or any new Earth-based phenomena as an explanation.

  • The scientific evidence must demonstrate there was no alteration or malfunction of the Ring device on which it was captured.

Who will determine if the Ring video is actually extraterrestrial?

Scientific evidence will be certified by Jacob Haqq Misra, Ph.D. in meteorology and astrobiology, M.B.A., B.S. in astrophysics and computer science, according to Ring.

If Misra certifies an entry does contain scientific evidence of an extraterrestrial, the person who submitted the video will be responsible for coordinating an in-person meeting in November.

When will the grand prize winner be announced?

The grand prize winner, if any, will be determined the week of Nov. 6 and announced on or about Nov. 20.

How will the grand prize be given out?

The grand prize winner will receive $1 million, to be awarded as an annuity of $50,000 a year over 20 years.

Ring's Out of this World prize rewards creativity

If nothing of an extraterrestrial nature stops by your house this month, get creative and make your own video. Remember, no longer than 60 seconds.

"This video taken with a Ring device can depict extraterrestrials in an unrealistic manner, and use artificial aids, such as costumes or accessories, manmade vehicles, makeup, props, computer graphics, digital effects and/or other artificial means," the contest rules said.

All eligible entries which do not qualify for the grand prize will be automatically considered in the judging for the Out of this World Prize.

The company issued a warning to avoid dangerous, risky or hazardous activity.

How many UFO sightings have there been in Florida?

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, there have been 8,068 UFO sightings in the Sunshine State, with the first one in 1944.

That makes Florida second only to California, with 15,849 sightings.

It should be noted that Florida also has the third most Air Force bases in the U.S. (56) after California (123) and Texas (59), which also has a large number of UFO sightings. Oddly, Nevada, home to the famous classified U.S. Air Force base “Area 51,” is just 27th on the list.)
