The Justice Department announced its decision on Thursday not to pursue criminal charges against President Joe Biden for handling classified documents. However, this decision has sparked harsh criticism from Alina Habba, who serves as Donald Trump’s spokesperson.

During an interview with Sean Hannity on “Fox News,” Habba expressed her disdain for the decision, labeling it as a double standard in the justice system. She argued that if Biden could handle classified documents without facing consequences, then there should be consistent enforcement of the law for the former president.

Habba, 39, pointed to what she perceived as divergent treatment between Republicans and Democrats in the justice system. She referenced the scrutiny faced by Trump over classified documents seized from Mar-a-Lago, contrasting it with the lack of charges against Biden.

“I think the one thing that we learned today from the Special Counsel is that there is, in fact, and not that we didn’t know it, Sean, two systems of justice—one if you’re a Republican and one if you’re a Democrat,” Habba said.

Maintaining his innocence, Trump has repeatedly asserted his right to handle the documents as he saw fit. Despite repeated attempts by the National Archives to retrieve the records from Trump’s possession, they were unsuccessful. The situation escalated to the point where the FBI obtained a search warrant to raid his Florida estate.

In contrast, Biden’s attorneys notified the National Archives upon discovering materials in his possession, setting a different tone in the handling of classified documents between the two administrations.

Who is Alina Habba?

Alina Habba, a 39-year-old lawyer, represented the former president after a federal jury in New York found the GOP frontrunner liable in a civil sexual abuse and defamation case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll.

Despite Habba’s efforts, the jury ruled on Jan. 26 that Trump had to pay advice columnist E. Jean Carroll a stunning $83.3 million for defaming her in 2019 when he denied her allegations of sexual assault and said “people should pay dearly for such false accusations.”

Habba, who clashed repeatedly with the judge during the trial − to the point that she was threatened with a contempt citation and jail time − said Trump would “immediately appeal” the verdict.

“We were stripped of every defense, every single defense before we walked in there, and I am proud to stand with President Trump because he showed up, he stood up, he took the stand, and he faced this judge,” Habba told reporters outside the courthouse.
