Aliquippa graduate/military officer Donna Gilbert to compete in Miss Missouri pageant
ALIQUIPPA – Donna Gilbert, an Aliquippa native and graduate of Aliquippa High School, will compete in The Miss Missouri Pageant.
The pageant takes place June 14-17.
Gilbert is one of 21 Miss Missouri contestants, and the only Black contestant.
Her community initiative platform is sexual assault awareness.
Her pageant talent will be baton twirling.
Gilbert lettered in volleyball, softball and basketball at Aliquippa, where she graduated in the Top-10 of her class. She also was a cheerleader in 12th grade.
She continued her education at Coastal Carolina University, where she joined the Equestrian Club and was crowned Miss Black and Gold for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. While in college, she served as president of Help Save The Next Girl and joined R.O T.C. She graduated Coastal Carolina in 2020 with an bachelor's degree in psychology and minor in sociology.
After graduation, she continued her military career, and is now a first lieutenant at Bravo Company 3-10 at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
While on active duty, she was crowned Miss Spirit of St Louis. She has earned 220 volunteer service hours while on active-duty, volunteering with organizations such as D.R.E.A.M.E.R.S, Blue Star Families, Ronald McDonald House, and St. Louis Crisis Nursery.
The pageant takes place at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo., northwest of St. Louis.
