Alisal Fire Swells to Over 14,000 Acres in Santa Barbara County, California

The rapidly expanding Alisal Fire reached 14,500 acres (over 22 square miles) on Wednesday, October 13, forcing evacuations in Santa Barbara County, California, according to official reports.

The fire began on Monday, October 11, and quickly prompted evacuations in Arroyo Hondo Canyon, Refugio Canyon, and other areas. As of Wednesday morning, the fire stood at 5 percent containment.
