The Great British Bake Off delighted fans last month when it was confirmed that Alison Hammond, Big Brother housemate turned This Morning presenter, would become the new host alongside Noel Fielding.

We're going to have to wait until later this year to see what Alison brings to the table (we're sure she will break out her iconic laugh a lot), but the star has teased that she will have a "trademark thing" similar to the Hollywood Handshake.

Appearing on last night's (March 31) chaotic live broadcast Late Night Lycett, Alison stated: "Maybe anyone who does a really bad job, I’ll give them a Hammond Hug. Obviously, everyone will be really rubbish as they’ll want a Hammond Hug."

Just when you thought Bake Off couldn't get any more wholesome.

Judge Prue Leith spoke this week about why she's so excited for Alison to join the show. "I think it’ll be fantastic," she said, "not only because of her character and her personality, but I like the fact she’s a woman.

"I love Matt Lucas and I’m sure we’ll be friends for life, but when there were three men and me, because there were numbers of them, they just got sillier and sillier and I never understand the jokes.

"They can go into hysterics about the word sausage. They’re like four-year-olds. So, I’m looking forward to having a woman around."

We're not sure how to break this to Prue, but Alison is famous for getting into hysterics quite often – in fact, Noel has stated he absolutely intends to "spend the whole time giggling like naughty school kids" with her.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
