Alison Hammond has This Morning fans in stitches as she whips up 'Brummie bolognese'

Viewers joked that Alison Hammond was no celebrity chef as she whipped up a “Brummie bolognese” on This Morning.

The TV star - who is from Birmingham - is usually seen on the sofa alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary but did a stint in the kitchen on Friday’s instalment (7 July) of the ITV show.

She said she had dreamed that she would get to make her spaghetti lasagne on This Morning and that it was all coming true as she got to host the cooking segment.

Hammond’s relaxed approach to cooking – and her recipe - didn’t win over everyone, with one viewer pleading on Twitter: “Please don't let Alison cook this at any dinner party.”

“Alison is hardly Jamie Oliver, is she?” asked another.

“God help Alison if Gino was watching this!” said somebody else, referring to This Morning regular Gino D’Acampo.

“Think I’ve lost my appetite after seeing that,” said someone else.

However, other people tuning in thought Hammond’s dish - which she admitted she may have found on Pinterest - was a breath of fresh air and urged ITV to let her whip up more culinary delights.

“Must admit that cooking seg was funny with Alison,” tweeted one person.

Another asked: “Can we please have more of Alison cooking on #ThisMorning?

"Quick, easy recipes that you can remember off the cuff - my kind of cooking!! Cos who has time to check methods, measurements etc.”

Hammond is going to be in another kitchen (of sorts) when she gets going on her new Great British Bake Off job.

The TV star is the new presenter on the show, taking over from Matt Lucas, and will be in the tent hosting alongside Noel Fielding.
