Aljancic, Rinkes, Bottomley, Patibandla, Powers in Ohio North-South basketball games

Louisville's Will Aljancic, Carrollton's Jaxon Rinkes, Northwest's Lily Bottomley, Jackson's Leena Patibandla and Malvern's Maddie Powers are the local athletes playing in the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association North-South All-Star Games on Friday at Olentangy Liberty High School.

The girls game starts at 6:30 p.m. and the boys game at 8:15.

The 6-foot-7 Aljancic, the two-time Repository Stark County Player of the Year, averaged 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in leading the Leopards to a 19-5 record. The University of Findlay recruit earned first-team All-Ohio and District 4 Player of the Year. He finished his prep career as Louisville's all-time leading scorer (1,409).

Repository all-county boys basketball: Louisville's Will Aljancic, Jackson's Tim Debevec lead All-Stark County boys basketball honors

Familiar face at Canton McKinley: Sean Weatherspoon returns home to become McKinley High School boys basketball coach

Rinkes, a senior point guard, averaged 14.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in leading Carrollton to an Eastern Buckeye Conference co-championship and a 21-4 record. He earned player of the year for the EBC and District 5.

The 6-3 Bottomley averaged 16.5 points and 9.3 rebounds in earning Repository Stark County Player of the Year for a second straight season and the OHSBCA Division II State Player of the Year. She shot an area-best 64.5% from the floor. Bottomley led Northwest to a Division II state runner-up finish and a second straight district championship. The Loyola Maryland recruit will graduate as Northwest's all-time leading scorer (1,419), rebounder (913) and shot blocker (207).

The 6-1 Patibandla averaged 15.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.2 blocks and 2.8 steals as the Polar Bears went 13-11 and advanced to a district final. The University of Wisconsin recruit earned second-team All-Ohio and will leave Jackson as the program's leader in career blocks and single-season blocks.

Powers, a senior forward, averaged an area-high 25.8 points to go with 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals for the Hornets (14-9). She was the District 5 Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Ohio. The Malone University recruit finished as Malvern's third-leading career scorer with 1,617 points.
