Tuesday roundup: Will Aljancic sets school record; Brayden Costea enjoys career night; Alliance beats West Branch again

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

LOUISVILLE 71, CANTON SOUTH 37 Will Aljancic made a school-record nine 3-pointers and scored a career-high 33 points as the host Louisville Leopards won big.

Louisville led 12-10 after one quarter, then outscored South 59-27 the rest of the way. Aljancic made eight of his 3-pointers in the second and third quarters and scored 26 of Louisville’s 40 points in that stretch.

Hayden Nigro scored 16 points for Louisville (10-3). Brady Noll led South (8-6) with 12 points.

ALLIANCE 65, WEST BRANCH 54 OT The host Aviators defeated their rivals from Beloit for the second time in five days, with this win coming in OT.

Four players scored in double figures for Alliance (9-2, 6-1), which also beat West Branch 57-46 on Friday. Gage Ford scored 16 points, K’Vaughn Davis 15, Stephen Gales 14 and Brendan Zurbrugg 12. Alliance moves into a first-place tie in the EBC with Marlington (11-2, 6-1).

Dru DeShields led West Branch (9-2, 5-2) with 15 points, Jaxon Hendershott scored 12 and Nick Wilson added 10. The Warriors have lost two straight after a 9-0 start.

MCKINLEY 52, PERRY 43 Jahlil Graham scored 13 points and Lonzo Henderson added 12 to lead the Bulldogs to a Federal League win at Memorial Field House.

McKinley (7-5, 4-3) outscored the Panthers 15-7 in the third quarter to stretch its lead to 40-26 entering the fourth.

Joel Brown led Perry (0-12, 0-7) with 20 points.

DOVER 60, LAKE 44 Landon Woods scored 13 for the Blue Streaks in their loss.

Chance Casenhiser finished with 11 points and Camden Horning added 10 for Lake (9-4).

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 74, LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 53 Jack Talkington, Dylan Rouse and DaMonte DeGraffenreid scored 14 points each as the Crusaders won on the road. Jack Bruckner also had 11 points for Central.

Ethan Bower led Lake Center with 14 points and Matthew Warder scored 13.

MINERVA 60, RAVENNA SOUTHEAST 52 Brayden Costea scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Lions to a road win.

Minerva made 11 3-pointers, with five of them coming from Costea. Brandon Davis made four 3s and scored 14 points for the Lions (4-9).

Brandon Clint led Southeast (7-8) with 20 points.

NORTHWEST 44, MANCHESTER 34 Garrett Baughman scored 14 points to help Northwest win a PAC-7 road game.

Ian Ziegler chipped in 11 points for Northwest (7-6, 6-2), which moves into a second-place tie in the PAC-7 with CVCA after the Royals lost at Triway on Tuesday. Northwest plays at first-place Tuslaw (8-6, 6-1) on Friday.

Daniel Sensius led Manchester (9-7, 2-5) with 11 points.

FAIRLESS 55, ORRVILLE 50 Three Fairless players scored in double figures as the Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak.

Brandon Pumneo led Fairless (7-9, 3-5) with 15 points, while Brody Pumneo and Coltin Collucci scored 14 points each.

Chris Smith led Orrville (3-12, 1-7) with 14 points. Brant Besancon added 10 points.

TUSKY VALLEY 67, TUSLAW 50 Logan Stotzer had 19 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals as the Trojans won at home.

Silas Miller added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals for Tusky Valley (10-4). Cody Robinson added 12 points for the Trojans.

Nate Frascone had a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds for Tuslaw (8-6). Ty Pratt scored 10 points for the Mustangs.

KIDRON CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 65, EAST CANTON 53 Tyler Bonner scored 30 points for Kidron in a road win.

Jaedyn McLeod was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 15 points. Caleb Shilling also had 14 points for the Hornets.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

PERRY 60, LOUISVILLE 54 Meredith Randulic scored 19 points as the Panthers snapped Louisville’s three-game winning streak.

Izzy Centeno, Mia Guscoff and Macy Takacs added 11 points apiece for Perry (11-5). Tackas also led the Panthers in rebounds with eight.

Freshman Courtney Barwick led Louisville (10-4) with 13 points, while Kelsey Adelman scored 12 and Taryn Miglich added 11.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

WALSH 80, TIFFIN 75 Garrison Keeslar registered a triple-double as the Cavaliers won in G-MAC action at Alumni Arena. Keeslar totaled 17 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists for Walsh (11-4, 7-2), which moves into a first-place tie in the league with rival Malone (12-4, 7-2).

Tim Smith totaled 17 points and six rebounds for the Cavs. Caleb Canter scored 12 points, while Darryl Straughter added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Wesley Jordan scored a team-high 23 points off the bench for Tiffin (5-10, 1-7).
