The Allbirds Mizzle Collection Is Here Just In Time for Fall
Through rain or shine, Allbirds has you (and your feet) covered. The sustainable shoe brand known for its ultra-comfy sneakers, flats, and socks just launched a new weather-resistant line for the fall.
The Mizzle Collection — a play on the word mizzle, which means a misty drizzle — features two core styles dubbed the Runner-up and the Runner. This represents the brand’s foray into weather-resistant footwear, but, unlike other brands, it doesn’t use synthetic materials or chemicals that can contribute to pollution over time. Most weather-resistant materials are created with synthetic fluorinated chemicals (PFAs), and since they don’t break down over time, they end up polluting soil and water.
In line with Allbirds’ sustainable approach to footwear, both shoes feature the brand’s own special Puzzle Guard technology, which uses a fluorine-free water repellant treatment and a water-resistant layer of bio-TPU. The shoes are also made of a thick, comfortable layer of Merino wool to keep your feet dry and a reinforced sole that provides traction to prevent slipping in sliding on wet ground.
Essnetially, the environmentally-conscious brand found a way to create shoes that will keep your feet cozy even in the dampest of weather, without using harmful chemicals or pollutants. The Wool Runner-up Mizzle marks another first for Allbirds. It’s the brand’s introductory take on a boot, featuring a high top that laces up just like their popular sneakers. And while the Wool Runner Mizzle looks similar to Allbird’s classic Wool Runner (allbirds.com, $95), it features the new water-resistant technology and makes a great transitional shoe for unpredictable fall weather.
