Alleged burglar arrested at Lighthouse campus

Feb. 9—A 34-year-old Clinton man is facing a felony burglary charge after police found him inside a building on the former Ashford University campus.

Anthony David Farrell is charged with the Class D felonies of possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense and third-degree burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, at about 11:15 a.m., Feb. 7, Clinton Police officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Lighthouse School Foundation, 400 N. Bluff Blvd. The property manager told them a bald male entered the St. Claire building, and provided surveillance footage. He said staff members confronted the man who refused to leave and continued further into the building carrying items.

The officers found the man on the 5th floor and one of them able to identify him as Farrell from previous contacts in a classroom.

Farrell was ordered to the ground where he was secured in handcuffs and transported to the Clinton County Jail, where a correction officer found a torn plastic bag in Farrell's left front pants pocket contained a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine.
