Alleged Lil Wayne Bus Shooter Enters New Guilty Plea

In 2015, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey—aka Young Thug and Birdman affiliate Peewee Roscoe—was arrested for allegedly shooting up Lil Wayne’s tour bus while the vehicle was parked outside of a concert venue in Atlanta. Winfrey was originally indicted on 27 charges, including the violation of the RICO Act, multiple counts of aggravated assault, and criminal damage to property.

Winfrey was sentenced to 10 years in prison after taking a plea deal in the case. That sentence was thrown out in 2018, however, after it was found the presiding judge had reportedly dangled a harsher sentence over his head if he didn’t take the plea deal.

Now, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey has filed a new guilty plea, Pitchfork can confirm via court documents. The plea deal finds Winfrey pleading guilty to two counts of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, with prosecutors dropping the other charges. Court documents confirm Winfrey has received a new seven-year sentence as the result of his plea deal. According to TMZ, he will receive credit for time served and be released from prison soon, per his lawyer Steve Sadow.

The original indictment against Winfrey asserted that Young Thug and Birdman were conspirators in the attack against Wayne’s tour bus. The two were never charged. The bus driver, Alvin Lewis, filed a civil lawsuit against Young Thug, Birdman, Winfrey, and Cash Money in 2016.
