Alleged Walmart shooter back in court
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man MPD identified as the alleged shooter at a Cordova Walmart last week made his second court appearance.
Tamarris Hopkins, 23, is facing multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder and several counts of aggravated assault.
Investigators say that Hopkins and a shopper got into an altercation on March 22 and it resulted in gunfire.

He was in court for the first time this Monday, when he went before Judge Sheila Bruce-Renfro for the first time.
During that session, it was determined that Hopkins would be appointed a public defender and his bond was set to $500,000.
He was back in court Tuesday morning for what was supposed to be a scheduled bail review hearing, which would determine if his bond amount would be adjusted.

However, that is not what took place.
After waiting for others to go before the court, Hopkins was escorted out of the courtroom without getting the chance to speak with the judge.
WREG learned that Hopkins’ public defender decided not to move forward with the bail review hearing and instead elected to return to court two weeks from today, on April 9.
In addition to the April 9 hearing date, court records also show that Hopkins is set to appear back in court on April 1, for a report date when each side informs the court whether they are ready to proceed or if they need more time to prepare their case.
