Allegheny County Health Department fines U.S. Steel $458K over Clairton Coke Works emissions
Allegheny County Health Department announced Friday it had issued a $458,225 penalty to United States Steel Corp. over what the agency said were emissions violations at the Clairton Coke Works.
ACHD said the penalties were calculated under a 2019 settlement agreement between it and U.S. Steel (NYSE: X) and were due to alleged violations of air pollution control at the Clairton Coke Works during the first quarter of 2022.
The fines follow $859,300 in penalties against the company, under the same agreement, covering April through December 2021.
