Two people are in custody after sending police on a chase and manhunt; KDKA's Amy Wadas reports.
KYM GABLE: All right, Kristin, thank you. [AUDIO OUT] people are in custody at this hour after sending police on a chase and a manhunt. Let's get right to Amy Wadas with all the breaking details now. Amy?
AMY WADAS: Kym Pittsburgh police are handling this case since it started in the city's Sheraden neighborhood. A BOLO was put out on a stolen car, and the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office was called in for backup. Now, the Sheriff's Office says deputies started following the car, and it took off. Pittsburgh police say at one point, the car sideswiped one of their cruisers at the intersection of Glenmar and Hunt Streets.
Pittsburgh police say sheriff's deputies followed the car until the suspects got out of the vehicle and took off in Rankin. News Chopper 2 was over at the scene there. Police arrested one of the suspects near the car. The second suspect got out and took off, sending police from multiple agencies on a manhunt all over the area. They even searched in nearby Hawkins Village.
Now, during the foot chase, police say the suspect tried to get rid of a gun. That suspect was eventually arrested and then taken into custody. Now, Pittsburgh Police tell us the damage to its vehicle was minimal and the officer driving that cruiser was not hurt. We still do not have the names of those two suspects. When we do, we will let you know reporting. Live from Pittsburgh Police Headquarters, Amy Wadas, KDKA News.
