Allegheny County police will assist Pittsburgh with downtown patrols

Target 11 has learned Allegheny County police will assist Pittsburgh police with downtown patrols.

Allegheny County Superintendent Chris Kearns confirmed the department will coordinate with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and Port Authority Police.


Uniformed officers in marked patrol cars will work in the central business district, Kearns said in an email.

The schedule and number of officers will vary.
