Allegheny County Reports Hundreds Of New Coronavirus Cases

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Thursday reported 499 new confirmed and probable coronavirus cases, raising the total since the outbreak began to 62,938.

There were three new deaths, raising the total to 1,181.

The 298 confirmed cases came from 1,181 tests - a positivity rate of 25 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 15 percent, state officials said.

There have been 3,735 hospitalizations during the outbreak.

With 22,510 cases in Westmoreland County, 11,222 in Butler County, 10,831 in Washington County and 9,854 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 117,355 when Allegheny County numbers are included.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 2,396 deaths in the region from the virus: One thousand, one hundred and eighty one in Allegheny County, 502 in Westmoreland County, 283 in Beaver County, 265 in Butler County and 165 in Washington County
