Allegiant Air announces flights between Pittsburgh, Key West

Feb. 17—Allegiant Air will debut nonstop flights between Pittsburgh International Airport and Key West, Fla., beginning June 3.

"From the historic sights at Dry Tortugas National Park to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, Pittsburgh visitors have a lot to explore in Key West," Drew Wells, Allegiant's senior vice president of revenue, said in a statement. "We're excited to connect these two great cities with affordable, nonstop service."

Flights will operate every Sunday and Thursday.

This is the first nonstop route connecting the two cities, according to Bryan Dietz, vice president of air service development at Pittsburgh International.

"Allegiant continues to be a great partner in this region and has grown to be a leader in destinations served at Pittsburgh International Airport," Dietz said in a statement.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air has operated out of Pittsburgh International since 2015, when it introduced flights to four Florida destinations: Tampa-St. Petersburg, Punta Gorda, Jacksonville and Orlando, as well as Myrtle Beach, S.C.

It has steadily added new routes.

In 2019, the airline announced routes to Knoxville, Tenn., and last year, it debuted seasonal routes to two more Tennessee cities: Nashville and Memphis, as well as Norfolk, Va.
