May 20—LIMA — Auditor Rachel Gilroy will represent Allen County in its efforts to obtain federal COVID-19 funds, commissioners said during their meeting Wednesday.
"This is just one of the many steps in this process. We understand that we are way on the front end of this thing, the final rules are not out," said Commissioner Cory Noonan. "The meetings that we have with our county team is really getting the lay of the land and really understanding before we go forward and do anything. But one of the key components on the front end is having a designated representative."
Gilroy and commissioners feel confident they will obtain some funding. During the meeting they formally moved to register for COVID-19 aid from the U.S. Treasury Department.
Other issues discussed at the meeting included minor improvements to the county courthouse and a discussion on improving sewage and water treatment systems in various areas around Allen County.
