More than 3,100 cemeteries in the United States will be part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America program. Each year, the organization estimates volunteers place 1.7 million wreaths.

The program started as a gesture of thanks that has grown into a national movement of volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation’s fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made for us to live freely.

This year’s event is estimated to include more than two million volunteers.

Each of the individual sites has a fundraising site at WreathsAcrossAmerica.org. In the search bar, visitors can narrow their search by typing in the individual cemetery names, or it can be narrowed by state.

The national organization’s website also contains a variety of information on veterans outreach and its efforts to honor those who have served.

Those wishing to attend the programs can find information on the websites for each site. Alliance’s and Marlboro’s programs will take place at noon Dec. 17. In Osnaburg, volunteers will begin laying the wreaths at noon at Mapleton, and they’ll lay the markers afterward at Osnaburg Cemetery.
