Alliance Elks name Teens of Month for December

Alliance Elks Lodge 467 has announced its December Teenagers of the Month. The students are selected by their respective schools based on scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship and service to school and community.

Alliance

Jillian Lohnes, daughter of Edward and Amy Lohnes, is captain of the tennis team, and was the 2022 EBC Player of the Year. She was homecoming queen and is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club and Like a Girl Mentor. Lohnes plans to attend college to become a dentist while playing tennis.

Jackson Kirby, son of Teri Kirby and Mitch Kirby, is a mental health representative and a school camp counselor. He made the Stark State College dean's list, and earned a career enhancement certificate in sign language. He plans to attend college to study psychology to become a licensed psychologist.

Louisville 

Elizabeth Kandel, daughter of Kurt and Carla Kandel, is a member of ACT 30+ Club, LHS Varsity Singers, Choir Council and concert choir. She is also an Ohio Professional Horseman's Association Schooling Rider. Kandel plans to attend college to study aerospace engineering while competing in collegiate club equestrian competition.

Caleb Leatherberry, son of Matt and Amelia Leatherberry, played football his freshman year and then made the team films. He is a member of National Honor Society, Video Production Club and Spirit Club. He is finishing up his paperwork en route to becoming an Eagle Scout. Leatherberry has his own lawn care business and plans to become an electrician or heavy equipment operator.

Marlington

Hope Baer, daughter of Rodney and Faith Baer, plays tennis and is an attendance office aide. She is a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Marlington Drama Dukes, Duke Street and Duchess Voices Select Vocal Ensemble. Baer plans to attend the University of Mount Union to study nursing and eventually become a CRNA or nurse practitioner.

Colin Cernansky, son of Ryan and Kim Cernansky, is on the varsity cross country and track teams. He is a member of Spanish National Honor Society and plans to attend Ohio State University to major in supply chain management/logistics while continuing his running career.

Minerva

Hailey Dray, daughter of Jessica and Todd Dray, is on the cross country team, in marching and jazz bands, and ran track her freshman and sophomore years. She is a member of National Honor Society and spring musicals. Dray plans to attend college to major in education.

Logan Frigyes, son of Gary and Heather Frigyes, plays baseball and is a member of symphonic choir. He played basketball his freshman and sophomore years, and is a member of National Honor Society and Student Council, and is an EBC Scholar Athlete. Frigyes plans to attend college to major in accounting or engineering while playing baseball.

Sebring

Sidney Wilson, daughter of Matthew Wilson, mentors sixth and seventh graders in reading, is a member of a reading group, and won the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. She plans to attend college with an undecided major.

Colby Kliffmueller, son of Jammie Armor, is on the football, basketball and track teams. He won the Presidental Excellence Grades Award. He is undecided on his future plans.

St. Thomas 

Alexandra Metzger, daughter of Melissa Metzger, is captain of the soccer team, and is secretary of the National Honor Society, treasurer of Key Club, treasurer of Student Council and a member of the Academic Challenge team. Metzger plans to attend college and study forensic science.

Logan Kinzler, the son of Michelle Kinzler, is president of the senior class, captain of the lacrosse team, and is on the Football team. He plans to work with the Ironworkers Union after graduation.

West Branch

Haley Close, daughter of  Scott and Sarah Close, is a head/featured twirler on the majorette team/ Sje os in Young and Alive Show Choir, and National Honor Society. Haley plans to attend Kent State University to become a pediatric nurse.

Beau Alazaus, son of Marti and Shawn Alazaus, is on the football team (was EBC Player of the Year), and is on the baseball and basketball teams. He is a member of National Honor Society, volunteers at STEM Camp for Youth, and is a youth baseball umpire. Beau plans to attend college and major in sports management while playing baseball.
