Many of the student performers in the recent Alliance Middle School production of "Annie Jr." were tackling a leading role for the first time. Many others were performing for the first time on a stage.

The lead role of Annie was shared by two actresses – Kara Eversdyke and Stella Jackson – during the production. The rest of the nearly 40-person cast was sixth, seventh and eighth graders.

"This musical has been such a positive experience for students,” said Shawna Taylor, Alliance Middle School’s choir teacher. “Theater has helped students build friendships and share their love for music. It has been an outlet for them to express their creativity and be involved in something that has allowed them to grow in their skills. I am grateful for the group of students I had to work with and their dedication to the show.”

The production was directed by Taylor, with Heather Shive as assistant director and Logan McGee as sound director.
