Alliance not quite ready to reveal plans for Reynoldsburg headquarters

Residents will have to wait a little longer to see plans for the Christian and Missionary Alliance’s new Reynoldsburg headquarters.

Representatives with the family of churches canceled their presentation scheduled Nov. 3 at the Reynoldsburg Planning Commission meeting and intend to appear before the commission for a formal presentation Jan. 5, 2023, according to Robert Childs, the Alliance’s relocation assistant to the president.

“The delay stems from the fact that our team felt we had too many moving design issues going on to land in time to submit a formal presentation next week for the December meeting,” Childs said in an email.

The former Kmart at Main Street and Brice Road was demolished last August to make way for a mixed-use development, anchored by the Alliance’s national headquarters.

The $200 million plan was announced in February 2021.

City leaders have envisioned the development as a mix of retail, restaurants, a hotel, an event center, green space and apartments — something similar to the way Bridge Park and Grandview Yard bring people to Dublin and Grandview Heights, respectively.

The buildout could take five to 10 years, officials have said.

The evangelical Christian denomination, which was headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, purchased four parcels of land totaling about 15 acres at the corner of Brice and Main.

New hotel planned for Taylor Square commercial district

A 117-room, 19,000-square-foot Home2 Suites by Hilton is planned for nearly 3 acres at State Route 256 and Interstate-70.

The major site plan for 2426 Taylor Square Drive, near Buffalo Wild Wings and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, received unanimous approval Nov. 3 from the planning commission. No timetable was given for the project.

The site is zoned CC-Community Commercial District.

Another Home2 Suites is located at 6315 E. Broad St., near Mount Carmel East Hospital.
