Alliance students stock up at annual backpack giveaway
Community members came together to help Greater Alliance-area students get ready to return to the classroom. On Aug. 12 at Thompson Snodgrass Park, a free Back to School and Community Day offered free school supplies, hair cuts, hair braiding, face painting, community resources, a 3-on-3 basketball game for those ages 10 to 17, music and food. Co-sponsors for the event were Alliance City Councilwoman Sheila Cherry, D-Ward 1; Destynee Hardy, founder of DreamByRoyal; and Honey Badger of Brothers of the Hammer. Alliance City Schools students head back to school beginning on Monday, while Sebring Local Schools students started Thursday. Students in Marlington Local and West Branch Local school districts start after Labor Day. See more photos from the Community Day event at the-review.com.
