New Alliance tree to honor dedicated educators
The Alliance Shade Tree Commission celebrated Arbor Day on April 28 by dedicating a tree in honor of three community education leaders.
Sally Ailes, Jim Ballor and Marilyn Jackson had a huge impact on hundreds of Alliance High School graduates. Their combined decades of service in the classroom, to the school board, in extracurricular activities, and community leadership will be remembered by many.
A Black Gum tree was planted at Glamorgan Castle. Shade Tree Commission board member Pat Stone introduced Alliance Mayor Alan Andreani, who read a proclamation for the honorees and Arbor Day.
Arbor Day ceremonies are a requirement to maintain Tree City USA status. Alliance has been declared a Tree City USA city for 41 consecutive years.
