Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida recently received a $10,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation.

For the past three years, the foundation has presented BBBSNWFL with a grant through their Helping Hands initiative. The foundation supports the causes that Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and employees care about most by providing Helping Hands Grants to nonprofits where they volunteer their time to help communities thrive. This gift provided backpacks for Littles to help make sure they were better prepared for the school year and to reach their full potential.

NISSI hosts inaugural Christmas Claus awareness opportunity event

NISSI, Network of Immediate Services for Survivors International, will host the inaugural NISSI Christmas Claus on Sunday at Long Hollow Creatives, 700 N. Guillemard St. The event kicks off at noon and Santa will be there until 2:30 p.m. Photos will be available until 4 p.m.

The NISSI Christmas Claus will be a fundraising opportunity for the entire family. NISSI has partnered with four local photographers and there will be three different photography Christmas sets. Refreshments and NISSI awareness material will be available.

NISSI is a faith-led, nonprofit organization in Pensacola that bridges the gap for survivors of human trafficking between rescue and restoration. NISSI is not a safe house, rather they act as first responders with local health systems and law enforcement to respond to verified and suspected cases of trafficking and provide wrap around services while meeting immediate needs of survivors as they navigate this new phase of life.

The organization’s services have one goal in mind — getting the survivor to the best long-term solution that allows them to thrive as they seek restoration, healing and reintegration. NISSI works with a global network of long-term programs to identify sustainable options for those they serve.
