Almost 90% of Ukrainians see Ukraine flourishing within EU in a decade — poll

During the poll, respondents were asked to choose an optimistic or pessimistic scenario of Ukraine's future.

Of those who opted for the optimistic scenario of the future, 63% fully agree with the idea of a prosperous country within the EU, and another 26% say they rather agree.
A mere 5% of those polled chose the pessimistic scenario. They believe that in a decade, Ukraine will be a devastated country facing brain drain.

Sociologists note that the absolute majority of the pollees virtually in all regions are hopeful as to the future of Ukraine (from 90% in the west to 76% in the east). At the same time, in Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts, where the level of destruction and shelling is especially intense, 76% of Ukrainians believe in the best, while 14% do not share this view. In the south of Ukraine, the figure is 89% (7% of pessimists).
In terms of age, the absolute majority of pollees in all age groups are optimistic about the future of Ukraine. Among respondents aged 18-29, this indicator stands at 94%.

Respondents who are optimistic about the future of Ukraine in ten years were asked an additional question about their willingness to endure financial challenges for three to five years in order to achieve a positive result in the future.
As many as 96% responded in the affirmative if Ukraine's future is prosperous and it is a member of the EU.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 21 to Oct. 23. As many as 1,000 people were interviewed by phone. The pollees are based in all regions of Ukraine, except for the territories of Crimea and Donbas, which were occupied before the full-scale invasion of Russia. Also, people who left the country after Feb. 24 were not interviewed.
EU leaders at the June 23 summit supported granting candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that this was a historic moment in relations between Ukraine and the European Union.

The European Council invited the European Commission to report on the fulfillment of the conditions listed by the candidate countries in its conclusions regarding their respective membership applications, and promised to decide on further steps "as soon as all these conditions have been fully met”.
According to the poll, conducted by the sociological group Rating in early October, 86% of Ukrainians would support Ukraine's accession to the EU in case of a referendum (3% were against, 7% would not vote). The support for accession to the bloc is unanimous among representatives of all macro-regions and age groups.
