Al's French Frys will not be at the Champlain Valley Fair this year.

Al's French Frys will no longer be serving up fries at the Champlain Valley Fair.

Bill Bissonette, owner of Al's French Frys, cited rising business costs and the opening of new locations as the reasons for pulling out of the fair. Al's has a food truck that travels to different towns including St. Albans and Milton according to their social media, but there has been no announcement of new brick-and-mortar locations.

Bissonette was not available for comment at the time of publication.

“The Champlain Valley Fair has been a wonderful partner over the years," Bissonette said in the news release. "With the rising costs of doing business and our success opening in communities throughout the state, we realized we couldn’t be in multiple places at once. This decision, while a tough one, is best for Al’s French Frys. The Champlain Valley Fair continues to be a big part of our hearts and I look forward to returning as a fairgoer with my grandchildren this August.”

The well-known South Burlington fast food joint has been a vendor at the fair for "decades," said Jeff Bartley, marketing director of the Champlain Valley Exposition in a news release. The fair will be working to fill the spaces left by Al's French Frys while also introducing new food options to fairgoers this year, Bartley said.
