CHICAGO — March 25 was "We Are SXU" Day, a yearly event celebrated by alumni of Saint Xavier University on the South Side. Although all in-person gatherings were of course canceled or not even planned for the 2020 event due to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of alums still celebrated from home.
"Our celebration via social media was a success – we flooded our feeds with scarlet and grey," said Erin Mueller, associate vice president of university advancement. "Thanks to the alumni and friends who shared touching memories and inspirational support for our students and community. "
Many shared their own personal messages on Twitter.
It's #WeAreSXU Day! We will be sharing and retweeting messages from our fantastic alumni and friends all day long for our students about what makes our community so special. I have memories of feeding ducks in Lake Marion & walking to the statue of Mary w/my grandfather. That statue sits outside my office now. My mom got her nursing degrees at SXU, and I’m an alum ‘04. Now I get to pass on the SXU legacy as Director of Choral Activities. #WeAreSXU pic.twitter.com/ZIq4GIM6aS
