Alyssa Ziehler, Jenna Slates, Mallory Oddo lead Green to girls basketball win over Walsh

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Green 49, Walsh Jesuit 43 (OT)

Alyssa Ziehler scored 14 points to lead the visiting Bulldogs to a win Monday night.

Green outscored Walsh 6-0 in overtime with Ziehler, Riley Chmielewski and Mallory Oddo scoring two points apiece.

Green's Jenna Slates finished with nine points, Oddo contributed eight points and Bri Hunt had seven points.

Walsh's leaders were Abby Garner (13 points), Taylor Angielski (10 points) and Megan Taraba (seven points).

Marlington 69, Sandy Valley 33

The host Dukes (19-2, 11-1) won with multiple notable accomplishments.

Marlington senior Kenna McElroy scored 21 points, sophomore Chelsea Evanich grabbed 11 rebounds to set the single season school rebounding record with 260 and sixth-year coach Mike Stadulis recorded his 100th career victory. Stadulis is 100-38.

Marlington's Elizabeth Mason scored 16 points, Evanich chipped in 14 points and Lexi Miller had 10 points. Maria Warner added five points, eight assists and seven steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Kenmore-Garfield 68, Mogadore 64

Marquis Vaughn scored 21 points to lead visiting Kenmore-Garfield (6-11) to a win over Mogadore (14-6).

McNeal Thompson IV contributed 18 points and Ronnie Hightower had 14 points for the Golden Rams.

Nicholas Coffman paced the Wildcats with 19 points, and Layne Miller and Aidin Hiney scored 14 points apiece.

Tallmadge 53, Cuyahoga Falls 49

The host Blue Devils outscored the Black Tigers 20-10 in the fourth quarter to secure a victory in a Suburban League American Conference game.

Ty Hurst led Tallmadge (13-5, 9-4) with 13 points, Collin Dixon scored 11 points and Aaron Gergely chipped in 10 points.

Tim Mitchell scored 19 points for Falls and Tyler Cargould had 13 points.

Highland 64, Revere 59

Aaron Filips scored 23 points to lead the host Hornets (12-8, 8-4 SLAC) to a win.

Highland's Hunter Winston contributed 13 points, Adam Coss chipped in 10 points and Maddox Albright had nine points. The Minutemen (6-14, 4-9) were led by Baron Bania (17 points), Carson Banks (16 points) and Chris Muntean (13 points).

Copley 67, Barberton 54

Trent Wininger scored 24 points and Caleb Laurich added 15 points to lead visiting Copley (15-5, 12-1 SLAC). Tony Fox scored 21 points for Barberton (7-13, 6-7).

Wadsworth 54, Massillon 43

Maxx Bosley scored 16 points and Solomon Callaghan chipped in 12 points to propel the Grizzlies (10-10) to a win. Elijah Farrington scored 13 points for the Tigers (9-9).

GIRLS BOWLING

Akron Division II Sectional

Crestwood, Woodridge, Garrettsville and Canton Central Catholic were the top four teams to advance from the Akron Division II Sectional on to next week's district tournament. Rootstown was fifth, 49 pins away from advancing as a team. The Rovers advanced individual qualifiers in freshmen Emma Day and Cassandra Egli. Day finished third overall with a 538 series and Egli rolled a 496.

Crestwood's Emily Linamen topped all bowlers with a 616 three-game total. Hannah Fortney from Garrettsville was second at 563 followed by Day, Alina Stebbins of CCC, Crestwood's Sydney Coburn, Egli and Leah Schoolcraft of Woodridge. Schoolcraft had a 495 series total to lead the Bulldogs.

BOYS BOWLING

Ellet 2,283, North 1,382

Ellet's Austin Dennis had the top series with a 371 and Alex Russell had the high game with 202 pins.
