I Am Going to Watch Every Single One of Netflix’s Holiday Movies
It isn’t even Halloween yet, but there’s an ever-so-slight chill in the air, which means it’s officially time to plan for winter holidays. Here’s a likely addition: Netflix has now graced us with its upcoming slate of holiday movies, and I am not exaggerating when I say I will watch each one with boundless enthusiasm.
Sure, there are some who would sneer at a made-for-Netflix holiday movie—a not-so-distant cousin of the Lifetime adaptation—but I would ask them, why ration joy? What’s the harm in getting the most out of the holidays, from now until it’s summer and we can drink outside again? On that note, let’s take a look at what Netflix has in store for us this holiday season.

In Holiday in the Wild (November 1), Kristin Davis stars as a recent divorcee Eat, Pray, Love-ing her way through Zambia, where she may or may not find love with a dashing pilot played by Rob Lowe at an elephant sanctuary. John Green + Kiernan Shipka = Something to watch with your teen cousins
Instead of spending Christmas Eve stiltedly asking the bored teenagers in your family whether “the kids still Juul,” why not settle in and watch an adaptation of John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle’s YA novel Let It Snow (November 8)? Kiernan Shipka is sure to entertain the zoomers, and an appearance by Joan Cusack will take care of the boomers.

Animated comedy Klaus (November 15) casts Oscar winner J.K. Simmons as “a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of toys,” Jason Schwartzman as “the postal academy’s worst student,” and Rashida Jones as “local teacher Alva.” Sounds like Elf, plus The Polar Express, minus the high creepiness quotient of The Polar Express.

Sweet, self-possessed dealer Conrad was always secretly the best character on Weeds, and now the actor who played him, Romany Malco, will star in Holiday Rush (November 28) as a popular New York radio DJ learning to reconnect with his kids.
Christmas! Prince! Royal! Baby!
