Amal and George Clooney Matched Their Face Masks to Each Other's Outfits

Ever since face masks have become an extension of our outfits, matching couple's masks have become the norm amongst celebrities. Kate Middleton and Prince William coordinated in blue protective face coverings during a recent royal outing, while at the beginning of the pandemic, Kaia Gerber and Jacob Elordi took a post-gym stroll in the standard disposable variety. And this week, Amal and George Clooney put a spin on the trend, matching their face masks to each other's outfits while on a date in New York City.

Departing the romantic restaurant One If By Land, Two If By Sea in Greenwich Village, the Clooneys looked classically chic as they walked hand-in-hand. Amal wore a navy minidress with two longer pieces of fabric that flowed on each side (à la the butt-protecting fashion that recently hit the runway), and she accessorized with a leopard-print clutch, silver metallic heels, and a black mask that expertly matched George's suit.

George, for his part, wore a charcoal gray jacket and trousers with a black dress shirt underneath and a blue mask in several shades lighter than Amal's dress.

Perhaps the move is a sweet show of unity — or they simply just mixed up masks after eating dinner?

Recently, the Clooneys have been doing the press rounds for George's new film The Tender Bar, which has given us plenty of couple sightings. Earlier this month, Amal and George made their return to the red carpet at the movie's premiere in Los Angeles, and this week, the human rights lawyer wore the dreamiest of dresses at the London Film Festival screening. Back in the States for a solo outing in Washington D.C. yesterday, Amal channeled Jackie Kennedy in a coordinating plaid coat and shift dress.
