Amanda Owen has spoken out on the "pressures" that caused her and husband Clive Owen to split.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess - who announced last year she was separating from the 68-year-old farmer after 21 years of marriage - said the reasons for their split were not unique.

Owen, 48, told the Radio Times: "Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated.

"It’s a fact, isn’t it? But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it."

The estranged couple both still live at Ravenseat Farm with their nine children, but Owen is sceptical of the term "co-parenting".

She said: "Call it that if you want, but it’s just a buzzword, really. It just means we take it in turns to shout at the kids."

The farmers are parents to Raven, 21, Reuben, 18, Miles, 15, Edith, 13, Violet, 11, Sidney, 10, Annas, eight, Clemmie, six, and Nancy, five.

Owen said: "I loved having babies about, but I wasn’t ‘goo-goo, ga-ga’. I couldn’t wait for them to find their own feet and run off.

"Someone once said to me, 'Oh, my God, you’ll really regret having all these kids when they’re teenagers.'

"And now I’ve probably got about four or five teenagers, and it’s great. I love it. I feel like it keeps me young. And I love seeing their characters and how different they all are."

Clive and eldest son Reuben recently appeared in Channel 5's new Our Yorkshire Farm spin-off show Beyond The Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, but Amanda was not a part of that show.

The couple confirmed their separation after 21 years of marriage having previously denied rumours their relationship was under strain.

The Yorkshire family rose to fame in 2011, after their 2,000-acre working farm featured in The Dales with Adrian Edmondson.
