Amar'e Stoudemire Denies Beating His Daughter After Arrest

Former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire, 40, was arrested on Sunday. He was charged with a misdemeanor battery and domestic violence charge hours after graduating from the University of Miami.

According to TMZ, allegedly Stoudemire hit one of his teen daughters in the face by punching her. The police report states that his daughter allegedly told them that her father continuously struck her. His daughter also alleges she was bloody from enduring the whooping.

Cops shared that when speaking with Amar’e he explained he was disciplining her after she responded to her grandma with “attitude” when she called the house to speak to her.

 

She “received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a liar,” Stoudemire allegedly told Police. Police also reportedly saw “blood stains” when talking to his daughter.

Allegedly Amar’e was not pleased with the interaction between his daughter and mother which led him to confront his child and reprimand her.

His daughter allegedly texted her mother, Alexis, photos of her alleged injuries resulting in the police getting involved to arrest Stoudemire.

On Sunday evening, Stoudemire released a statement in part sharing it on Instagram in his defense. Stoudemire explained that as the investigation continues he’s confident it will support his claims of not assaulting his daughter.

“As the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allegations to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is nearly 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds,” he said.v

Stoudemire’s bond was set at $1,500 for one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of domestic violence. He was given a stay-away order for his daughters safety by police following the alleged incident. and an arraignment hearing was set for Jan. 17.
