City of Amarillo's Office of Engagement & Innovation wins 6 Addys

The City of Amarillo Office of Engagement & Innovation took home six awards Feb. 24 during the American Advertising Federation (AAF) awards ceremony for the Amarillo chapter. The AAF is a national network of affiliated advertising clubs. The Amarillo awards ceremony, held each February, recognizes creative excellence in advertising and awareness campaigns.

The Office of Engagement & Innovation won awards for the following:

  • Silver Addy for Intergraph Public Service Campaign: Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Campaign

  • Silver Addy for Video Editing: (State of the City – Let’s Grow)

  • Special Judges Award: WIC Campaign

  • Honorable Mention for Animation, Special Effects or Motion Graphics: (WIC – Every Step)

  • Honorable Mention for Art Direction: (WIC Awareness Campaign)

  • Honorable Mention for Social Media Campaign: (Black History Month)

“I am extremely proud of what these awards represent,” said city Director of Engagement & Innovation Jordan Schupbach. “One of the top priorities of this department is to inform the Amarillo community in a meaningful and impactful way regarding projects and programs that are important and beneficial.”

NRCS Texas offering grants up to $200,000 through the ‘Partners for Conservation’ Program

TEMPLE – The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas recently announced grant opportunities for partners to receive funding through its Texas Partners for Conservation Program. The application period opened Feb. 24 and closes on April 24.

NRCS will host an online webinar on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. (Central) to provide information to the public on applying for the grant. Jersey Mike’s celebrates 13th annual 'Month of Giving,' raising funds for Children's Miracle Network of Amarillo

Children's Miracle Network of Amarillo is joining forces with the Jersey Mike’s Subs in Amarillo located at 2311 S. Georgia St. for the 13th Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to support local charities. During the month of March, customers can make a donation at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants through its mobile app or onsite.

The Month of Giving campaign will culminate with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 29, when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100 percent of the day’s sales – not just profit – to Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo.

On Day of Giving, local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators throughout the country will donate their resources and every single dollar that comes in to more than 200 different charities including hospitals, youth organizations, food banks and more. This March, Jersey Mike’s hopes to exceed last year’s record-breaking national fundraising total of $20 million and help local charities striving to fulfill their missions and make a difference.

Smith Family Farms receives Oklahoma Leopold Conservation Award

Smith Family Farms of Elk City has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 Oklahoma Leopold Conservation Award. Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the prestigious award recognizes farmers, ranchers and forestland owners who inspire others with their dedication to land, water and wildlife habitat resources in their care.

In Oklahoma the award is presented annually by Sand County Foundation, American Farmland Trust, Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Noble Research Institute, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, ITC Great Plains, Oklahoma Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Jimmy and Cathy Smith and their adult children, Spencer and Calli, are cotton growers from Beckham County. The Smiths were presented with $10,000 and a crystal award at the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts’ Annual Meeting on Feb. 27.
