Amarillo dentist office hosting annual candy buy back on Friday

Amarillo Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics (APDO) is hosting the 14th Annual Candy Buy Back from 3-6 p.m. on Friday.

The dental office expects to collect between 200 and 300 pounds of candy during the popular event, which takes place at the APDO Wolflin location at 2300 Wolflin Ave.

Staff members weigh returned Halloween candy during the Amarillo Pediatrics Dentistry and Orthodontics candy buy back event in 2021. As with last year's event, the candy collected this week will be shipped to military troops stationed around the world.

Trick-or-treaters who bring their excess candy will be paid $2 per pound, up to three pounds. That candy will then be shipped overseas to dozens of local soldiers serving in the military.

Families are encouraged to either email names of service members to info@amarillopediatricdentistry.com or bring the names and addresses to the Candy Buy Back event.

Aside from making some extra cash, kids will also enjoy meeting a visitor from the Amarillo Zoo and having personal ID cards made by Amarillo Crime Stoppers.
