Amarillo fire crews battle 2 structure fires overnight involving power pole, shed, house

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to two fires overnight involving multiple types of structures, but no injuries were reported.

According to a news release, at around 11:58 p.m., Amarillo fire units arrived at 1214 S. Cleveland on a report of a structure fire. There was a fire showing from the back corner of a small residential structure. Crews were able to get the fire under control by around 12:20 a.m. without incident.

Five units and 17 firefighters responded to the scene. Damages were estimated at a loss of $20,000.

There were no injuries reported, and the Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the fire.

Then at 3:41 a.m., Amarillo firefighters were called to a reported structure fire in the 3600 block of SE 11th. Upon arrival, crews found a large shed on fire, as well as a fence and a power pole with multiple transformers attached. Fire fighters used extreme caution while extinguishing the flames.

Crews got this fire under control safely by 4:28 a.m. There were no injuries reported. The Fire Marshal's Office ruled the cause of this fire as undetermined, due to the possibility of the fire having more than one source of ignition.

Electrical service was affected from SE 3rd to I-40, with an unknown time of repair.

The estimated dollar loss from this fire was more than $20,000.
