The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/foodinspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

  • 100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

  • 85 points – Considered an average score

  • 70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

  • COS – Corrected on site during inspection

These points correspond to the following letter grades:

  • A – 90 to 100

  • B – 80 to 89

  • C – 70 to 79

  • F – 69 and below

Dishwashing machine not dispensing correct concentration of chlorine sanitizer (repeat violation). Correct by 04/14. Food debris and dust on equipment in bin under prep table. Correct by 07/09. Coolers used for dispensing tea need to be cleaned regularly. Correct by 08/09.

(A/99) Barnes & Noble Booksellers Inc., 2415 S. Soncy Road. Water spraying from hand sink in front when turned on; ice container in front leaking onto cabinet below. Correct by 07/10.

(B/89) Belmar Bakery and Café, 3325 Bell St. Prepared food items in containers without dates; grocery bags used for storage; all food not in original containers must have a label with common name of product. COS. (A/97) Brady’s Dairy Queen #17, 3333 S. Western St. Employee drink next to food prep; flowers sitting next to prep station where food products being prepared; layer of dust on multiple fans throughout establishment. Correct by 10/11.

(A/90) Buffalo Wild Wings, 9511 E. I-40. Soda guns in bar heavily soiled and growing mold; scoop handle touching top of macaroni and cheese (repeat violation). COS. Heavy trash and cigarette butts on floor in back dock area; women’s restroom ceiling has water damage and is exposing dry wall (repeat violation). Correct by 04/24. Exposed wood above soda machine near front door must be sealed (repeat violation); mop sink faucet is leaking. Correct by 07/09. Condensate dripping onto boxes of food stored in walk-in freezer; water accumulating in bottom of bar glass coolers and beginning to contact glasses; a smooth, durable, easily cleanable and non-absorbent ceiling is needed above the east side server station above hand sink and soda fountain (repeat violation); floor under door for walk-in cooler near office with metal plate beginning to come loose (repeat violation); large hole cut out exposing pipes and insulation in wall above beer cooler (repeat violation); hand washing signs needed in men and women’s restrooms Correct by 08/09.

(A/99) Express Mart, 913 W. Amarillo Blvd. Several surfaces, including several walls in bathroom and bathroom door, need cleaning (repeat violation). Correct by 07/09.

(A/97) Fox Fast Stop, 1901 S.E. 10th Ave. Sponges must not be used in contact with cleaned and sanitized or in-use food-contact surfaces. COS. Trash can in bathroom still missing a cover (repeat violation). Correct by 04/12/24.

(A/96) Georgia Street Taphouse, 2001 S. Georgia St. Multiple cutting boards deeply scored (repeat violation); dust build-up on fans in walk-in cooler; dust and grease build-up on multiple vent hoods (repeat violation); dust build-up on vents (repeat violation); signs needed at all hand sink stating for hand washing only. Cartons of raw eggs stored above raw beef patties; employees handling tortillas and chopping onions without wearing gloves; container lids stored in hand sink; all wiping cloths must be stored in sanitizer solution between uses. All prepared food items in fridge must be covered; several surfaces need to be cleaned; heavy dust build-up on freezer in back room, floor behind stove and window ledge between kitchen and cleaning room; several places need to be repaired, including many ceiling tiles and hole in wall in hallway to bathroom. Expired ready-to-eat eggs in cooler and ready-to-eat foods missing date marks; sanitizer bottles empty in mechanical dishwasher and three-compartment sink; single-use stir straws must be individually wrapped or in a dispenser.
