Amarillo Food Establishment Inspection Report for the week of Oct. 30, 2022

The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/food-inspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

85 points – Considered an average score

70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

COS – Corrected on site during inspection

All foods must be stored in packages, covered containers or wrappings; top rack must be covered when racks are placed in walk-in; pans stacked wet; scoop handle touching product; excessive ice build-up in walk-in freezer. (A/93) Caprock High School Activity Center, 3001 S.E. 34th Ave. Several chemical spray bottles stored next to spices and above other food and food-contact surfaces in dry storage east of the main concessions. COS. Several boxes of food stored on floor inside concessions; food debris on several pieces of equipment; acoustic ceiling tiles must be replaced with non-absorbent tiles; household refrigerator must not be used to hold any food that is sold to customers (repeat violation). (B/86) El Burrito Rico, 4404 River Road. Cold hold unit at improper temperature. Correct by 10/27. Employees did not wash hands; no soap at hand sink; dishes in service sink. Correct by 11/03. (B/89) Maxwell’s Munchies, 12900 Bell St. No labels on chemical bottles; hose must be removed or backflow preventer needed on mop sink. Correct by 10/25. Bleach test strips needed. Correct by 11/01. Scoop handle touching ice; single use cups must be stored at least six inches above floor; coolers in storage area must be cleaned; household fridge must be removed. Correct by 01/20.
