Amarillo Food Establishment Inspection Report for the week of Feb. 5, 2023

The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/foodinspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

85 points – Considered an average score

70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

(B/89) Popeye’s, 5409 S. Coulter St. Sanitizer in three-compartment sink not at proper concentration; employees did not wash hands after touching personal phones. COS. Pitcher stored in hand sink. Correct by 02/10. Back door needs new skirt; food debris, dirt and dust in walk-in cooler shelves and floor, in back storage room on floor and shelves above chicken prep area; hand sink by three-compartment sink is out of order. Polk St. Cut mushrooms and scallions in cold holding at improper temperature; bottle of whipped cream sitting out at near-room temperature; several packages of seafood thawing improperly. COS. Heavy mold growth on soda gun nozzle in bar. Correct by 01/29. (B/86) TX Chicken Bowl, 3011 E. Amarillo Blvd. Freshly cooked chicken not cooled to proper temperature before being placed in cooler; eggs stored above ready-to-eat food. COS. Chemical bottles not labeled; gasket on make table must be replaced; small amounts of pest droppings in establishment; cutting board on make table must be resurfaced or replaced (repeat violation); air gap needed at threecompartment sink. (C/78) Youngblood’s Café & Catering Co., 620 S.W. 16th Ave. One make table not holding at propter temperature; several TCS food items in a make-ready cooler that was out of temperature were plated and served to customers; container of raw chicken stored above container of cooked hamburger; sanitizer in dishwasher at improper concentration. Correct by 01/28. Damaged gaskets on several coolers in kitchen and server area; duct tape on cooler in server area most be replaced; one hand sink was completely removed and another was partially blocked off; mop in one hand sink and cleaning equipment stored in another hand sink.
