Amarillo Jan. 25 COVID-19 report card: 1,324 new cases, active total above 13,000

The Amarillo Public Health Department reported an increase of 1,324 new COVID-19 cases in Tuesday's COVID-19 report card.

That brings the total number of cases in Potter and Randall counties to 68,374 and the total number of deaths remained at 1,043 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The city also announced Tuesday that the Amarillo Public Health Department has scheduled its last remaining dose of available monoclonal antibodies, and another shipment is expected soon, at which point infusions will again be offered.

Of the total, 13,082 cases were reported as active in Tuesday's report card, a net increase of 1,209 active cases.

There have been 54,249 reported COVID-19 recoveries, an increase of 115 recoveries from Monday.

Trauma Service Area A, which includes Potter and Randall counties as well as the majority of the Texas Panhandle, is recording a 25.7% COVID-19 hospitalization rate as of Monday.

Potter County saw an increase of 601 COVID-19 cases, bringing the county's total to 33,140 since the start of the pandemic. Of the total, 6,084 are active, an increase of 555 net active cases from Monday. There have been 26,425 recoveries and 631 deaths related to the virus, according to Tuesday's report card.

Randall County saw an increase of 723 COVID-19 cases, bringing the county's total to 35,234 since the start of the pandemic. Of the total, 6,998 are active, an increase of 654 net active cases from Monday. There have been 27,824 recoveries and 412 deaths related to the virus, according to Tuesday's report card.

As reported in Tuesday's COVID-19 update, 527,287 COVID-19 tests have been conducted since the start of the pandemic, with 25 tests pending.

Where to get the COVID-19 vaccine, booster

The Amarillo Health Department is administering boosters for the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

The city offers the Moderna vaccine for individuals 18 and older, as well as doses of the Pfizer vaccine for those between the ages of 5 and 17.

Immunizations are available at Amarillo Public Health, 850 Martin Road, during the following hours:

• Monday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
