Amarillo PD homicide unit seeking public's help with shooting that left 1 dead, 2 injured

The Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit is requesting the public's help in locating a possible witness in a shooting incident from about 4:35 a.m. Sunday, in which one person died and two others were injured.

As previously reported, at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday, March 26, Amarillo officers were called to an area hospital on a report of three gunshot victims who had been dropped off by private vehicle. Javaurian Penns, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two women, ages 17 and 18, had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for any information related to the suspect vehicle (circled in orange) or a potential witness vehicle (the white truck on the right) in an early Sunday shooting incident at the intersection of Amarillo Boulevard West and McMasters. The victim vehicle is not pictured in the photo, but is across the intersection from the white truck shown in the photo, police said.

According to police, the shooting occurred at the intersection of Amarillo Boulevard West and McMasters. Police released a photo of the possible suspect vehicle. "The victim vehicle is not in the photo but is across the intersection from the white truck also (shown) in the photo. The people in the white truck might have witnessed the shooting," police said in a Facebook post.
