Amarillo police: Man, 24, dies after gunshots heard in Travis Street area early Thursday

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a possible homicide early Thursday in Amarillo.

At about 5:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, Amarillo officers were called to the 4100 block of south Travis Street on reports of gunshots heard in the area. Officers found a man laying in the street and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Markell Damarion Toombs-Reed, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The APD Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time, and no suspect information was available.
