Amarillo Sod Poodles drop series final, third straight to Tulsa Drillers

The Amarillo Sod Poodles were unable to slow down the Tulsa Drillers in a 10-3 loss Sunday to close out a six-game home series at HODGETOWN Stadium.

With the loss, the Soddies (18-21) dropped five of their six home contests against the Drillers (24-14) — who are winners of their last three games.

On Sunday, Amarillo kept things close before Tulsa pushed across a game-changing five runs to break the game open and take a 9-1 advantage after six complete.

Carson Taylor highlighted the inning with a two-run home run over the left-centerfield wall to put the Drillers up 6-1. After a Brandon Lewis RBI double, Jeren Kendall smacked a two-run home run to provide the 9-1 lead.

The Sod Poodles, who mustered seven hits, added two runs in the ninth off a fielder's choice and groundout toward the final 10-3 scoring margin. Forbes, who netted the RBI groundout, finished his day by driving in two runs.

Deyni Olivero (0-3) was saddled with the loss after yielding eight hits and seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings for Amarillo.
