The United Citizen's Forum hosted a Veteran's Honor Banquet Saturday to honor the lives and accomplishments of veterans from the North Heights community in Amarillo. During the celebration, veterans Charles Warford and Nathaniel Cantly were honored posthumously for their service to the country and to the community. The forum also honored living World War II-era Veteran Edward Owens, who served in Japan following the U.S. occupation of the country following its surrender. Owens served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. Look for more on this veteran's story in a future print edition and online at amarillo.com.
