Amateur baseball roundup: Blake Moke's homer lifts Corsica-Stickney past South Central

Jul. 14—CORSICA — Blake Moke's two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh lifted Corsica-Stickney to a 7-5 non-league amateur baseball win over South Central on Tuesday.

Moke finished 1 of 3 with two RBIs. Dillon Turner finished 2 of 3 and had two RBIs as well. Luke Bamberg, Jordan Dierks, Nathan Blom, Kyle Menning and Lee Niewenhuis finished with one hit each.

Blom picked up the win for the Horned Frogs. He pitched four innings and allowed three hits and two runs, but struck out seven. Menning pitched three innings and struck out three batters. Aaron Earls also pitched for Corsica-Stickney, striking out three, but allowed four hits and three runs.

For South Central, Jaden Frank. Paul Taggart, Aaron Vomacka, Cole Christopherson, Blake Boes, JJ Beck and Blake Hoffman each had a hit. Taggart, Vomacka, Boes and Hoffman had an RBI each. Brandon McKnight took the loss for South Central. He pitched one inning and allowed one hit and one run, but struck out two.

Corsica-Stickney (2-11) plays Alexandria in a Sunshine League matchup at Corsica on Thursday. South Central (7-6) plays at Chamberlain on Thursday in Pony Hills League action.

Kimball/White Lake 16, Plankinton Gold Sox 5 (8 innings)

PLANKINTON — Kimball scored five unanswered runs at the top of the eighth to end a Pony Hills League amateur baseball game against Plankinton on Tuesday.

For Kimball, Ethan Gaulke led the team with three hits. Zak Wallner and Javen Holan chipped in with two hits each while Brian Zeman, Dylanger Pierson and Trent Wookey had one hit each.

Winning pitcher Gaulke struck out two batters and allowed two hits and five runs in 2 1/3 innings for the Nationals. Wallner pitched 3 2/3 innings and struck out 10.

Tom Harris took the loss for Plankinton allowing 11 runs and six hits, but struck out eight. Harris and Logan DeRungs had one hit each for Plankinton.

Miller/Wessington 12, Wessington Springs 11

MILLER — Despite out-hitting Miller/Wessington 10-9, Wessington Springs dropped an amateur baseball game on Tuesday.

Dalton Mogck, Drew Olinger and Isaac Kolousek had two hits each for Wessington Springs while Tarek Butterfield, Trey Weber, Trevor Kenobbie and Coy Fastnacht had one each. Olinger led the team in RBIs with three.

Trey Weber took the loss allowing nine hits and 11 runs, but struck out seven batters.

For the Outlaws, Mike Eggleston led the team in hits with two while Dalton Vis, Tom Conway, Andrew Knox, Dustin Harvey, Jay Winter, Alex Hyed and Josh Koeck had one hit each. Hyed picked up the win as he struck out eight batters, but allowed one hit and two runs.

Outlaws (4-10) host Plankinton on Thursday. Wessington Springs play at South Central on Monday in Gregory.

Freeman 14, Tabor 4

TABOR — Freeman had a team-high 11 hits in a South Central League amateur baseball victory over Tabor on Tuesday.

Jake Weier, Bailey Sage, Jackson Fiegen and Trey Christensen had two hits each, while Chet Peterson, Tryg Aanenson and Kyle Braun had one hit each. Sage led the team with two RBIs.

Alex Fiegen pitched six innings for Freeman. He struck out six batters but allowed six hits and three runs.

Christian Uecker took the loss in this one giving up nine hits and six runs, but struck out two.

Sam Caba, Bryce Scieszinski, Chris Sutera and Cole Uecker each had two hits for Tabor while Joey Slama had one.
