May 23—WILLMAR — The Milroy Yankees got dominant pitching and good hitting to beat the Willmar Rails 10-0 in seven innings Sunday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Milroy's Isaac Schmidt allowed one hit on the mound, striking out nine and walking four.

The Yankees Branden Flock went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Cole Felcyn was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Jackson Hughes was 2-for-3 with a run.

For Willmar, Jordan Steffer was 1-for-3 with a double.

Willmar is now 0-1 in the Corn Belt League and 1-1 overall. The Rails are host to the Tracy Engineers, who joined the Corn Belt this season, at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Rockets picked up the Corn Belt League victory at Legion Field in Marshall by scoring twice in the first inning and two more times in the fourth.

Mike Jeseritz led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Brady Kienitz was 2-for-4 with a stolen base. John Sawatzky was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rockets. He also got the pitching win, starting and going five innings. He allowed five hits, two earned runs and two walks, striking out three. Alex Lotthammer then pitched the next 3-1/3, allowing three hits and one unearned run. He struck out five without a walk. Caleb Dittmarson then came on to the save, striking out the two batters he faced.
