Netflix Announces ‘Never Have I Ever’ Season 2 Table Read (TV News Roundup)

Netflix announced that the cast and creators of “Never Have I Ever” will take part in a live table read on May 8 at 2:30 p.m. to raise funds for GiveIndia in support of their COVID-19 relief efforts.
The table read will also include a sneak peek at the second season along with some special guests. Narrated by John McEnroe and Andy Samberg, the series stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Darren Barnet, Ramona Young, Lee Rodriguez, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison and McEnroe.

CNN announced that the documentary “Race for the Vaccine” will premiere on May 15 at 9 p.m. Narrated and produced by CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the film traces the world-changing discoveries of the life-saving vaccines against COVID-19. A series of exclusive interviews with scientists conducted over the course of 12 months will reveal their real-time reactions to study results and their resistance to political urgings to rush research decisions. “Race for the Vaccine” is directed by filmmaker and former virologist Catherine Gale and co-directed by medical journalist and filmmaker Caleb Hellerman.

Paramount Plus released a trailer for “Rugrats,” an all-new reimagination of the ’90s cartoon debuting on May 27. In the one-hour premiere episode, “Second Time Around,” Tommy leads the babies on an adventure to help Chuckie after his own courageous endeavor goes horribly wrong. The series stars E.G. Daily as Tommy Pickles, Nancy Cartwright as Chuckie Finster, Cheryl Chase as Angelica Pickles, Cree Summer as Susie Carmichael and Kath Soucie as both Phil and Lil DeVille, all of whom are reprising their iconic roles. The series also features new voices, including Ashley Rae Spillers and Tommy Dewey, who voice Tommy’s parents, Didi and Stu Pickles, respectively; Tony Hale as Chuckie’s father, Chas Finster; Natalie Morales as Phil and Lil’s mother, Betty DeVille; Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons as Angelica’s parents, Charlotte and Drew Pickles, respectively; Nicole Byer and Omar Miller as Susie’s parents, Lucy and Randy Carmichael, respectively, and Michael McKean as Grandpa Lou Pickles. Based on the original series created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, “Rugrats” is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio with Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier serving as executive producers. Dave Pressler and Casey Leonard co-executive produce, with Rachel Lipman serving as co-producer and Kellie Smith as line producer.
Netflix released a series of photos from the second half of “Lupin,” which premieres this summer. Created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, “Lupin Part 2” will continue to follow Assane’s (Omar Sy) quest for revenge against Hubert Pelligrini (Hervé Pierre), who has torn his family to pieces. With his back to the wall, he now has to think of a new plan, even if it means putting himself in danger. The series also stars Nicole Garcia, Clotilde Hesme, Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Shirine Boutella and Soufiane Guerrab. Ludovic Bernard directed the sixth and seventh episodes, while Hugo Gélin directed the last three. Isabelle Degeorges and Nathan Franck produced the series in association with Gaumont Télévision.
CASTING
Amazon Prime Video’s fashion competition series “Making the Cut” will feature 10 new designers in its second season, premiering July 16. Those vying for the $1 million prize and a mentorship with Amazon Fashion are Dushyant Asthana, Lucie Brochard, Ally Ferguson, Gary Graham, Lendrell Martin, Olivia Oblanc, Andrea Pitter, Andrea Salazar, Joshua Scacheri and Raf Swiader. Hosted and executive produced by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, the second season consists of eight episodes, which will be released weekly, two at a time. The show culminates in the ultimate runway show on Aug. 6, where the winner will be announced.
LATE NIGHT
Rob McElhenney, Uzo Aduba and Australian indie-alternative outfit Middle Kids will appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” while “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” will have on Channing Tatum, Josh Duhamel and Joyelle Nicole Johnson. Meanwhile, Robin Thede, Mario Duplantier, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Ryan Hurd, with support from wife and Grammy-winning artist Maren Morris, will be on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
